SA Professional Photographers Associateship

I was recently privileged to receive my associateship from the South African Professional Photographers for my Landscape, Wildlife, and Sports photography, It is a huge honour tone recognised by your peers at this level and I am extremely proud.

For those who are not familiar with this level of recognition, below is an exert from the SAPP website:

The SAPP are recognized as some of the most prestigious in the photographic world. The Associate is the second level of SAPP distinctions and is a significant step up from the first level, the Licentiate. While in the Licentiate we are looking for a basic competence and skill, to be successful at Associate level you need to provide evidence of creative ability and the development of a personal style. You also need to be able to show that you are in complete control of the technical aspects which allows you to produce quality which is entirely ‘fit for purpose’ i.e. it suits the subject. Your photography should be consistent and make a statement of a strong personal style. A high standard of presentation is expected.

Let’s face it, everywhere you look you are surrounded by photographers… new photographers, hobby photographers, experienced photographers. Every week it seems like I hear about another photographer. But why could I blame any photographer? Photography is fun, amazing, and can add such a different level to your life that you never thought possible. You don’t have to be able to draw amazing or paint a masterpiece. You can literally learn how to be the artist you never were. Photography is changing millions of lives and giving millions more a passion. And that is amazing.

Some photographers choose to be an associate for the same reasons I would have, others have different reasons.

And to round off this amazing achievement, I was this month featured photographer in the SAPP online magazine which can be view here MAGAZINE
