buy me a coffee please

Hello all, it’s been a while since my last blog post……you can all guess why.

Please read and let’s hope you will decide to buy me a coffee and help a creative keep creating.

Before I start, the above headline is actually a euphemism for “Please support me as a creative” on my new personal and members only all sharing photography platform, called “BUY ANDREW A COFFEE“. I guess it has been a long time in the making without me actually knowing it. So let me share my thinking.

I have been feeling a little lost with all of the business impact COVID has had on the world and especially with the absolute devastation that has been inflicted upon the travel industry world-wide. For me it has been about the fact that as a wildlife photographer who is fulltime reliant in this industry, my focus has had to shift to creating more interest with my work from the point of view is what the viewers actually want VS what I create personally.

It seems that your success as a Wildlife Photographer (for me specifically) is dependent on your social media reach or standing, how close you can get to big animals with a wide angle, how many leopards with names you can photograph and how cool you look with your sponsored bling ( I am and ambassador of light and that’s all I need) along with brand images. What happened actual wildlife photography ?

I understand its part of business etc I have done so many things that people recommend, hashtags, keywords, sharing blah blah blah. But it’s a continuous drone of being passed by because you’re not THAT guy or Girl.

But I have reached a point where I have shared so much, given so much knowledge, shown reasonably good images I think yet I have not been able to grow my following in over 18 months (Yes covid etc I know world on its head) When more people are on online and so on I thought it would grow somewhat. SO WTF……..

So lastly, I have realised that for me personally this whole thing has made the passion become distorted and not sure I am getting my message across (not the message the world wants) and this is where “BUY ANDREW A COFFEE” comes in 🙂

I think this quote sums it up and that I need to just focus on the desire to share my passion, creative love and passion for chasing light…..

“Never give up on something that you can’t go a day without thinking about.” ―Winston Churchill”

So at the end of the day I would like to share my work with people that are inspired by it, enjoy it and want to learn from my experiences and opinions. I will continue to share on social media to keep myself current and out there.

Thank you for your support and I hope to see you there and enjoy a coffee with you.
